Bamboos in Ghana

Bamboo has become one of the priority renewable structural resources for the twenty-first centuary and Ghana is not left in this opportunity. In Ghana, there are more than thirty species found both in the wild  and plantation with most of the collections found in the  Bambusetuem at the Bobri Buttterfly Sanctuary managed by CSIR- Forestry Research Institute of Ghana, Kumasi.

Some of the  bamboo species available in the Bambusetuem are Guadua charcoensis, Guadua augustifolia, Dendrocalamus strictus, Dendrocalamus babartus, Dendrocalamus membranaceae, Dendrocalamus lateflorus,  Dendrocalamus brandisii, Bambusa hetrostachya, Bambusa vulgaris, Bambusa vulgaris var vitata,Bambusa ventricosa, Bambusa bambos, Bambusa textilis, Bambusa multiplex,Bambusa oldhamii,
